NEW YORK and BRIDGEWATER, NEW JERSEY, Aug 9 (Reuters) – North American Aerospace Defense Command on Sunday intercepted two general aviation aircraft that violated temporary flight restrictions as President Donald Trump attended a tournament at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

• F-16 fighters safely escorted the two aircraft from restricted airspace, NORAD said in a statement.

• NORAD declined to say whether the pilots of the two aircraft had made a mistake, saying that it is up to the Federal Aviation Administration to make that determination.

• Pilots are required to check with the FAA to stay up to date about temporary airspace restrictions, NORAD said.

• The White House did not immediately return a request for comment on the incident.

• Trump is scheduled to fly back to Washington from Bedminster later Sunday after attending the LIV Golf event.
