Clinton School Improvement Plans About More Than Just Academics

width=As the school improvement plans for each Clinton school district building have now been presented to the Board of Education, the district's leader says the plans are starting to go away from just an academic theme.

Curt Nettles is the Superintendent of Clinton Schools and indicates the plan presented to his Board of Education has components of discipline and relationships between staff and students.

As each building leader crafted their plans, Nettles encouraged the principals to promote "individuality". He says education is getting away from a "cookie-cutter" mentality.

According to Nettles, administrators from the various buildings work well together, however, he hopes to see their collaboration increase. He explains the alignment of the curriculum will also help in that regard.

Nettles says the issue of local control from a state level will allow them to continue to create their own unique footprint on each building.

He hopes the message of local control gets through to lawmakers and policy-makers, especially considering nearly 80-percent of the school's budget is made up of local dollars.
