The Monticello managed just two second half field goals as Champaign St. Thomas More stymied the Lady Sages for a 42-29 victory in Illini Prairie Conference girls basketball action at Monticello High School.

The Lady Sages led at the break 22-21, and it looked like the two Illini Prairie Conference rivals were in for a heavyweight bout in the second half, but the Lady Sages were outplayed at every turn and could not find any momentum, as they were outscored 21-7 in the second half.

Tatum McCall scored 11 points to lead the Lady Sages. Zanna Myers scored ten points, battling foul trouble most of the game.

Hayes Murray led the Lady Sabers with 18 points.

Champaign St. Thomas More improves to 13-9 overall while Monticello drops to 15-2. The Lady Sages host Pontiac Tuesday night.
