Gehrig Quick gunned down the would-be tying baserunner at second in the bottom of the seventh inning, helping Monticello preserve a 7-5 win over Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond in non-conference high school baseball action Tuesday in Monticello.

The stolen base attempt ended a threat for the Knights, who trailed the entire game. 

Koyie Williams homered and doubled among his four hits while driving in three runs for the Sages.

Heyden Romano and Cole Basak drove in runs with doubles for Monticello and Dawson Gaitros drove in a run and picked up the save in relief. 

Monticello goes to 4-0 overall and will travel to Oakwood on Thursday.
